The Great Commission is one of the most well-known passages in the Bible, but what does it mean for women today? In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus gives His followers a clear mission:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20, ESV)

This command wasn’t just for the men standing before Jesus that day—it was for all believers. That includes women! Whether you’re a wife, mother, single woman, student, working professional, or retiree, the Great Commission applies to you. But how does that look in everyday life? Let’s dive in.

1. Sharing the Gospel in Your Daily Life

You don’t have to travel to another country to make disciples. The Great Commission starts right where you are—at home, in your workplace, at the grocery store, or even on social media.

“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16, ESV)

Your words, actions, and love for others can be a testimony of Christ. Whether you’re mentoring a younger woman, encouraging a friend, or raising children in the faith, you’re fulfilling the call to disciple.

2. Teaching and Encouraging Other Women

Titus 2:3-5 encourages women to teach and guide one another in faith. The Great Commission isn’t just about evangelism—it’s also about discipleship. Helping other women grow in their walk with Christ is just as important as leading someone to faith.

“Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women…” (Titus 2:3-4, ESV)

Consider leading a Bible study, mentoring a younger woman, or simply being available to listen and encourage others in their faith journey.

3. Supporting Mission Work

Not every woman is called to go overseas, but we can all support the spread of the Gospel. Praying for missionaries, giving financially, or volunteering in local outreach ministries are powerful ways to take part in the Great Commission.

“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” (Romans 10:15, ESV)

Even the small things—like sending an encouraging message to a missionary or donating to a ministry—can have a big impact for the Kingdom.

4. Living Boldly for Christ

In a world that often discourages faith, living boldly as a Christian woman is a powerful testimony. The Great Commission calls us to be unashamed of the Gospel.

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7, ESV)

When we confidently live out our faith, we inspire others to seek Jesus. Whether that’s through hospitality, kindness, or standing firm in biblical truth, we reflect Christ’s love to those around us.

5. Trusting in God’s Presence

The best part of the Great Commission? We’re not doing this alone. Jesus promised, “I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). No matter where God calls you—whether to a mission field or to your kitchen table—He is with you, strengthening and equipping you for the work ahead.

Final Thoughts

The Great Commission isn’t just for pastors, missionaries, or men—it’s for every believer, including women. You have a unique role in spreading the Gospel, whether through your home, community, workplace, or beyond. Every act of faithfulness, big or small, contributes to the mission Jesus gave us.

So, how will you live out the Great Commission today? Let’s go and make disciples, knowing that God is with us every step of the way!
