“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Sister, if you’ve ever wondered whether God has called you to shine His light, let me assure you—He has! Jesus makes it clear in Matthew 5:14-16 that we are not meant to keep our faith hidden. Instead, we are to radiate His love, truth, and grace everywhere we go. And what better way to shine than by living on mission?
The Call to Shine
Mission work isn’t just for pastors, ministry leaders, or those who hop on a plane to a foreign country. It’s for every woman who follows Christ. Whether you’re leading a Bible study, mentoring young women, or sharing the gospel with your neighbor over coffee, you are a missionary in your own right. Every act of kindness, every moment spent serving, and every conversation about Jesus is a way to shine His light.
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
Your Mission Field is Everywhere
Sometimes we think of missions as something that happens “over there.” But the truth is, our mission field is wherever God has placed us. Maybe He’s calling you to be a light at your workplace, in your children’s school, or even within your own family. When you live with a mission mindset, every interaction becomes an opportunity to glorify God.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
And yes, there may be times when He calls you to step out of your comfort zone—perhaps on a short-term mission trip or serving in a local outreach. If He is stirring your heart for that, don’t ignore it! Take that leap of faith and watch how He works through you.
The Power of a Woman’s Light
As women, we have a unique way of reflecting God’s love. We nurture, we encourage, and we bring warmth into the spaces we enter. Our faith-filled presence in homes, churches, and communities is a testimony to the goodness of God. When we embrace the calling to be light-bearers, we become vessels of His hope in a dark world.
“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”
Shine Without Fear
Let’s be honest—shining for Jesus isn’t always easy. It can be intimidating to share our faith, especially when we face rejection or opposition. But remember, the light we carry isn’t our own. It’s Christ in us. When we step out in obedience, He provides the strength and courage we need.
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.“
So, sister, don’t hide your light. Let it shine boldly and beautifully. The world needs more women who are unashamed to live on mission, pointing others to Jesus in everything they do.
Where is God calling you to shine today?

Prioritizing God: Lessons from Haggai for Christian Women
The book of Haggai may be short, but it’s packed with wisdom that applies to Christian women today. Haggai was a prophet who encouraged the Israelites to rebuild the temple after returning from exile. His message calls for obedience, faithfulness, and prioritizing God’s work over personal comfort.
